A study that says biomass plants are worse than oil is not the last word on this subject.

Studies in Massachusetts and nationally conclude that biomass -- the burning of wood and other organic matter for electricity and heat -- can make climate change worse and devastate forests. They warn that renewable energy policies at the state and federal levels ignore these risks and will worsen the threat.

These actions include the increased use of wood-based bioenergy (including biofuels) and wooden construction. Harvested wood products make up a considerable carbon store that has gradually increased since the 1990s.

OTTAWA and VERNON, BC, June 7 /CNW/ - ENSYN TECHNOLOGIES INC. AND TOLKO INDUSTRIES LTD. announced today that they have formed a partnership to build the world's largest commercial fast pyrolysis plant in High Level, Alberta. The partnership, High North BioResources Limited Partnership, has been formed to build and operate a plant capable of processing 400 bone dry tonnes of biomass per day into 85,000,000 litres (22.5 million U.S. gallons) of pyrolysis oil annually.
