FEDERAL WAY, Wash., USA, Mar 7, 2011 — Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) today announced it was named the world’s most admired forest and paper products company according to a study published in the March 21 edition of FORTUNE magazine, currently available online and at newsstands.

Weyerhaeuser earned the top ranking in its industry for innovation, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, long-term investment, and quality of products/services. In addition, Weyerhaeuser tied for 10th for social responsibility overall among all companies.

“This distinction among our peers testifies to our commitment to responsible governance, reliable systems and a focus on long-term prosperity,” said Dan Fulton, president and chief executive officer. “We are honored to be rated among the world’s top companies and our employees take great pride in this recognition.”

FORTUNE’s “Most Admired Companies” list is widely considered the definitive measure of corporate performance and reputation. To compile the list, FORTUNE and its partner, The Hay Group, surveyed approximately 15,000 senior executives, outside directors, and other major non-U.S. companies and financial analysts. Those surveyed rated companies on innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, and quality of products/services.

Last week, Weyerhaeuser also learned it was included in Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens List for 2011 and awarded the Sustainable Asset Management 2011 Bronze Class distinction for corporate sustainability performance in "The Sustainability Yearbook 2011.”
