ANDRITZ receives major order for supplies to Eldorado pulp mill, Brazil

Graz, Austria, Jan 21, 2011 - International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Eldorado Papel e Celulose Ltda. (Eldorado Brasil) to supply a complete fiberline and other major equipment for the new pulp mill in Três Lagoas, Brazil. Start-up is scheduled for the third quarter of 2012. It was agreed not to disclose the order value.

Sackkfraft Paper Machine Speed World Record at Mondi Frantschach

Italy, Jan 10, 2011 - One month after having installed a new PMT SMARNIP® mini shoe press, the 4.5 m wide PM6 at Mondi Frantschach (A) has broken the speed world record of sackkraft paper machines, producing for over 24 hours in a row at 1002 m/min at pope-reel, in November 2010.

The successful cooperation between Mondi Frantschach and PMT Italia started in 2009 with the installation of a new M4 headbox and a new PMT shoe press on PM7, producing MG papers at a maximum speed of 450 m/min.

Forestry Commission forecasts high demand for wood

The UK Forestry Commission is predicting that the increased use of wood-fuelled boilers could boost the industry.

According to the commission, there has been a growth of businesses and consumers opting to install eco-friendly biomass boilers to reduce fuel bills and lower emissions.

In particular, the Forestry Commission highlighted the recent decision of Bradford council to use biomass fuel at its City Hall and Ilkley Town Hall as part of commitment to reduce greenhouse gases by 20 per cent in 2010/11.

Cause of explosion at Pacific BioEnergy Pellet Plant determined

The cause of the explosion and resulting fire at the Pacific BioEnergy Pellet Plant in Prince George, British Columbia on December 17, 2010 was been determined.

The blast was ignited by sparks in the plant’s fibre drying system.
