63% US respondents, 3% Canada, 15% Western Europe, all other were less

  • When asked “What has been the change in the proportion of contract labor used by your site in the last ten years?” 45% of the respondents said it had grown
     
  • 44% said this was due to the price relative to the employees
     
  • 59% said the use of contract labor is defined in their bargaining agreement
     
  • Respondents were also evenly split on whether or not contract labor caused more theft and pilferage
     
  • 60% actively monitor their long-term contract labor situations to avoid potential “quasi employee” lawsuits
     
  • 37% believe their use of contract labor will grow in the next five years
