Tanzania: Norway to organize Oslo climate conference

A MAJOR global conference to form the first real genuine partnership to fight climate change through Reduction of Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD) in developing countries will be held in Oslo, Norway later this month.

Tanzania to refund Norway Sh2.8bn aid

The government is to refund a total of Sh 2.8 billion to the Norwegian government as settlement for a long running dispute stemming from reported embezzlement of millions of shillings in a Donor backed natural resources development programme.  
 
The Citizen has established that the refund is provided for in the government budget for the 2010/2011 financial year. Members of Parliament are currently in Dodoma debating the ministerial estimates in the Sh11.1 trillion.

CBO empowered to manage forest resources of Masito-Ugala ecosystem in Kigoma

IN Kigoma, Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is preparing local communities to benefit from REDD initiative within seven villages bordering the rich biodiversity Masito-Usagalla Ecosystem.

Better forest management campain gets cash boost

Dar es Salaam. The campaign to improve forest governance in the country yesterday got a major boost as Finland and Norway contributed a $ 5,060,000 towards the second phase of Mama Misitu campaign.

The second phase which will take off this year to 2016, is expected to improve transparency and accountability in the forestry sector and reduce illegal harvesting of forests.
 
The campaign would be build on public, private and non-governmental partnerships and networks related to sustainable use of forests and timber products.
