October 2011: The organization RESOLVE has published a call for applications for non-profit Civil Society Organization (CSO) Observers to the Climate Investment Funds (CIFs), to serve for a two-year term, beginning in January 2012.

CIF observers may request the floor to speak during committee discussions, request that the co-chairs add items to the provisional agenda and recommend external experts to speak on a specific agenda item. Application materials and background information on the CIFs and the CIF observer process, are available on the RESOLVE website. The application deadline is 6 November 2011.

The CIFs are a pair of funds – the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) and the Strategic Climate Fund (SCF) – aimed at helping developing countries pilot low-emissions and climate-resilient development. Representatives from civil society, the private sector, indigenous peoples’ groups, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) participate as active observers in meetings of the CIF.
