Project Plan for Building Capacity in Sustainable Forest Management Planning Signed

Damascus – Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform and the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Forestry signed on Wednesday the project plan for building capacity in sustainable forest management planning.
The project, carried out at Jesser al-Shoghor in Idleb province, aims at implementing sustainable forest management planning concepts and building institutional capacities through setting up appropriate management plan and enhancing the principle of preserving biodiversity.
Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Adel Safar stressed the strategic importance of the Syrian-Turkish cooperation since it moved towards integration, indicating to the Food and Agriculture Organization's efforts to make this project a success.
Turkey's Forestry Director General Osman Kahveci said the project will yield positive results, particularly after training 50 Syrian technicians.
