ASEAN Focuses on Socioeconomic Aspects of Sustainable Forest Management

20 January 2011: As reported in the Bulletin of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for January 2011, ASEAN officials met on 19 January 2011 to discuss the integration of socioeconomic aspects in sustainable forest management, as part of the implementation of the ASEAN-Swiss Partnership on Social Forestry and Climate Change.
The CHF 5 million project aims to assist ASEAN in adapting to and mitigating climate change through socially and environmentally responsible forest management and protection. It is implemented over the period 2009-2013 through three main areas: policy development; knowledge sharing and networking; and learning interventions. [ASEAN Bulletin]
