Atikokan coal plant to switch to wood pellets

Ontario Power Generation is switching its coal-fired power plant in Atikokan to a biomass burning plant by 2012.

The plan is to burn wood pellets instead of coal.

Ontario then plans on looking into converting its 3 other coal-fired power plants, including the giant Nanticoke plant on Lake Erie, to burn wood pellets, wheat husks or other plant material.
